State House Rally Being Planned in Support of H. 1996/S. 1207
Saturday - July 30th
Please Read this Important Update

As you may be aware, H. 1996/S. 1207 was released without changes from the House Ways and Means Committee last Thursday. However, after a few short hours, and without clear explanation, the bill was returned to Ways and Means before it could be voted on by the House.

We have come so far, and there is no question as to the merits of our bill or the overwhelming political support it has from countless stakeholders. You have responded to our calls to action and have sent more than 5,000 emails to Beacon Hill just since June 1st.

Yet the reality of politics, money and pressures from organized medicine have been so impactful that we are now sitting in a very precarious position with little time to get the bill to the Governor, who is ready to sign it into law.

This legislative session ends on July 31st and between now and then, there is a Republican and Democratic national convention - so this means we have only 3 legislative days to get out of committee and be passed in the House and Senate.

MA legislators are planning to work on Saturday and Sunday, July 30th and 31st to finish up legislative business and MCNP and MANA intend to hold a rally at the State House as this will be our last chance to be heard and influence legislators.

Drawing a crowd to the State House on any day is a challenge, but even more so on a Saturday in July - so we truly need your help to make this event a success.

Details for the rally are still being worked out, but it will likely be in the 11 am to 1 pm time frame, and before we engage the press, we need to be sure we will have a strong turnout.

Please respond ASAP if you can commit to attending a rally so that we can move forward with our plans. We invite you to bring family and friends and if committed attendees are interested, we will be planning a luncheon after the event.

Help us put Patients Before Politics and send a clear message to Beacon Hill that it is not too late to get this bill passed!
