The New England Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (NEGAPNA) is seeking nominations for several volunteer leadership positions on the Board of Directors.
In your role as a Board member, you will influence the direction of the organization as it strives to achieve its mission of better care for older adults across New England through gerontological advanced practice nursing, education and research.
The following positions are open for the 2018-2019 NEGAPNA Board term:
President-Elect:
The President-Elect serves as a member of the Board of Directors and performs the following functions:
- performs duties as assigned by the President;
- automatically assumes the office of President at the end of the President’s term or in the event of a vacancy in the office of President;
- develops a thorough understanding of the bylaws and policies of the Society, and Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised;
- works closely with the President;
- develops and prepares goals for upcoming term as President establishes contact with the National Office staff for the operation of the Society;
- recognizes and advises of changing outside influences which may affect the decisions of the Board;
- participates in the development and implementation of the strategic plan;
- contributes articles to newsletter as required; completes other duties as assigned.
- (3-year term – President-Elect, President, Immediate Past President)
Director-at-Large:
- assumes responsibilities delegated by the President and/or Board;
- participates in the development and implementation of the strategic plan;
- contributes articles to newsletter as required; assists to orient the incoming Director-at-Large
- and completes other duties as assigned.
- 2-year term
Secretary:
- Records the proceedings of all official meetings of GAPNA.
- Notifies the GAPNA membership of the annual meeting and any other special meetings.
- Accepts responsibilities and assignments as delegated by the President.
- Participates in the development and implementation of the strategic plan.
- Contributes articles to newsletter as required.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- 2- year term
Student Director-at-Large: The Student Director at Large is a position on the NE GAPNA Chapter Board of Directors designed to develop leadership skills. This is an appointed position available to current Master’s in Nursing or DNP enrolled students. The Student Director-at-Large responsibilities include being available for Board of Director meetings via teleconference or in person and shall perform duties as prescribed by the Board of Directors such as participate as a student representative on a Chapter Committee of choice. The position is a 1 year term effective September 2018 to September 2019. The application will be available on the NEGAPNA website.
