Meet the Candidates for the New England Chapters's 2019 - 2020 Board of Directors

President Elect:

The President-Elect shall assume the duties of the President at the end of one year when the President completes the term of office, in the absence of the President, or in the event of a vacancy in the office of President. The President-Elect shall perform such duties as prescribed by the Board of Directors. 

 

Candidate:

Name:  Monica Dube DNP, APRN, FNP

 

Credentials (highest degree; licensure; national certification): DNP, APRN, FNP

 

Education (nursing degree, school, year of graduation): BSN from Salem State College, her MS and DNP from the University of Massachusetts Lowell

 

Place of Employment:  Primary care nurse practitioner for the Lahey Health System in Lexington MA.  She has worked as a nurse practitioner for 30 years, the last 24 of which have been in internal medicine.

 

Position: Primary Care

 

City and State of Place of Employment: Lahey Health System in Lexington MA

 

She is a trained advance care planning facilitator, certified through Honoring Choices MA and the Gundersen Health System of WI, and has been actively conducting advance care planning discussions with her patients for the past 10 years.  This work promoted her interest in improving the care system regarding end of life care. She is currently a member of the Advance Practice Council and the Peer Process Review committee for the Lahey System.

 

Her research was to investigate specific barriers and facilitators nurse practitioners face in conducting advance care planning discussions with their patients. She presented her research results at numerous national conferences.  She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, AANP, GAPNA and the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

 

For the past 16 years, Monica has served as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students representing Northeastern University, Simmons College, the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Boston College and is an adjunct faculty member at Simmons College.  She has received outstanding clinical preceptor awards in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2015.

 

Treasurer:

  • The Treasurer shall oversee the finances of the Association and shall perform other duties as prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Position: Clinical Service Manager, on-call overnight program for OPTUM Hub program

Has been a GAPNA member since 1999 – Locally involved in New England chapter since its inception. Has been chapter president and now currently treasurer since 2015. Very involved in educational endeavors that support the care and healing of elders.
